This couple lives full time in a renovated Skoolie with their large family of fur babies

Adam and Rachel are the team at Soulful Bus Life. They live and travel in a 1999 Blue Bird school bus named Luna, which they turned into a cozy home.

The couple and their pets—a dog named Oakley, a cat named Sibyl, and two bunnies, Piper and Serious Black—travel all the time in their special bus.

They did most of the work on the bus by themselves, which let them make it just right for their needs.

For example, they changed the bus’s old plastic lights into new LED lights. They also made light switches out of the knobs from the bus’s front electrical panel.

Right near the entrance, there’s a small closet for jackets, pet harnesses, and leashes.

Next to the driver’s seat, there’s a little space to keep shoes tidy and out of the way.

The couple made a special dashboard out of a piece of walnut wood from a friend’s house, which holds plants and collectibles.

Adam swapped the original driver’s seat for one from his old Volkswagen.

Above the driver’s area, there’s a bookcase and a sound system that use up every bit of space.

Behind the driver’s seat, there’s a comfortable bench built into the bus.

Rachel and their dog Oakley like to sit here and look out the window while Adam drives.

The bench has storage inside at the back and underneath. They also put a vent near the solar converter under the bench to keep the air moving.

At the front of the bus, the couple installed hardwood floors they made by cutting plywood into strips.

Behind the front seats, Adam and Rachel have divided the space for a closet and bathroom with small walls.

On one side, Adam’s closet has hangers for shirts and cubbies for shoes and small items.

Across from that, a curtain hides the composting toilet, which they built themselves instead of buying one for over $1,000.

Next to the toilet, there’s Rachel’s closet and a big 32-inch shower. The back part of the bus has a carpeted area that combines the living room and kitchen.

There’s a big pantry that stores food and the cat’s litter box. Right next to it, there’s a full-size refrigerator and extra counter space with more storage.

The couple found a big basin sink at a warehouse sale and added a $20 faucet.

Under the sink, there’s a water filter and a hot water heater that make it feel like home.

Built-in drawers under the counter hold dishes and pet bowls, and there are sliding bins for recycling and trash.

Above the sink, a large shelf keeps linens and extra towels organized. A single countertop burner and a camp chef oven are used for cooking.

Adam built the dining area himself. The tabletop can be lifted off so they can use it in bed for movie or game nights.

The seats also lift up to reveal storage space underneath. On nice days, they open the emergency exit door to enjoy their meals with a view.

At the bottom of the storage area, there’s a built-in bunny hutch for Piper and Serious Black.

The bus has carpeted floors, which are good for the bunnies to roam around and gentle on the senior dog Oakley’s joints.

In front of the bedroom, there’s a large TV on a rotating mount. This lets the couple watch movies from the kitchen or the bed.

The bed in the bedroom is king-sized and fills the width of the bus. The bed platform lifts up, revealing two water tanks stored underneath.

Above the bed, there’s a built-in shelf that makes a cozy spot for books.
