Small laundry room? No problem!
Many people have tiny laundry rooms in their apartments.
When space is limited, using every inch wisely can make you happy or stressed, depending on how it turns out.
There are lots of designs and tips to help you make the most of your small space. Here are some tips to feel good about your small laundry room:
Use the walls for extra space.
You can hang pull-down or accordion drying racks and wall organizers.
If you can’t add more cabinets, a wire storage rack on the wall is also a good choice for storing extra items in your laundry area.
If adding more cabinets is possible, do it.
Cabinets are perfect for storing supplies and look good in the right spot, like a corner or an empty wall.
You can find many types of cabinets and shelves online or in stores to match your style and needs. If you use shelves, think about organizing with jars or other containers to keep things neat.
You can also use the doors of the cabinets by attaching hooks to them. Consider open cabinets or tilt-out hampers. Some cabinets even have special features that…
Add baskets to your cabinets.
If you already have cabinets or you’ve just installed new ones, you can add pull-out drawers or baskets. These are great for storing different supplies and give you more space in your laundry area.
Use door attachments.
Mounts, hooks, or other attachments that work for closets can also be used on doors. Even simple hooks on the door can give you extra space to hang laundry bags or hangers for drying delicate clothes.
Hang drying racks from the ceiling.
If your walls and doors are already full, look up!
You can hang a ladder-like drying rack with chains from the ceiling. This is perfect for drying clothes or hanging pressed items, especially if you don’t have a dryer.
Use pedestal drawers.
If every space is full, even the ceiling, try pedestal drawers under your washer or dryer. These drawers fit under the machines and offer extra storage.
Not all models can use them, but many new ones can.
You can also raise your machines on pedestals. This makes them easier to reach and gives you more space for storing items like detergent and dryer sheets.
Add a folding station.
Attach a small counter to the wall under a shelf or cabinet.
Use it for folding clothes. You can design it to fold up when not in use, saving more space. It can also double as an ironing board.
Use small furniture
An odd corner or wall can probably be a place where a small bookshelf can fit.
While a bookshelf is certainly not intended to be used in a laundry room, it still may fit perfectly in the space providing storage space needed for sorting baskets.
Any other smaller extra furniture can be used in place of bookshelves used in children’s rooms. Side tables, storage cubes, or similar things can be used.
Combine the laundry area with the bathroom.
If you run out of space, think about putting your laundry in the bathroom.
This idea works well because both areas use water. It makes good use of the sink, countertops, and plumbing.
With careful planning and design, this setup can look sleek and work efficiently.
It’s a great choice for small homes and apartments and for people who like everything neat and together.
Incorporate the wash area to the bathroom
When all else fails, consider combining the laundry and the bathroom.
The concept is nothing new, especially for people who believe it is sensible since both places are meant for utilizing water anyway.
It is one of the most sensible small laundry ideas and designs as it optimizes the use of the sink, countertops, and plumbing lines.
With proper planning and designing, this combination can be sleek, efficient, and striking. A bath and laundry combo is best for smaller homes and apartments, and for people who prefer the streamlined living.
