In 2019, Brian and Ntiankiki walked about 1,100 miles across East Africa, passing through Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda.
Inspired by their journey, they built their home in a place that they named Bomanoma.
This home later turned into an eco-lodge, a special retreat that blends African traditions with modern comforts.
“Bomanoma” comes from two Swahili words: “boma,” which means a traditional African homestead, and “noma,” which means amazing.
As more people visited their home, Brian and Ntiankiki decided in 2020 to make it an official lodge, offering guests a unique experience of Maasai culture and new technology.
They got married in 2021 and also welcomed their first child, a daughter named Zuri Naeku Ash, that same year.

Bomanoma is an eco-lodge in Africa that provides special places to stay with modern features.
It is on five acres of land near Narok, Kenya, in an area called the Great Rift Valley.
This valley is where the Maasai tribe, a group of people who move around with their animals, live.
The lodge looks like a traditional African village called a boma. This means it has several houses grouped together, all surrounded by a big fence.
The houses are built like the homes of the Maasai people. They are either round or slightly longer than they are wide, about 6.5 feet by 10 feet.
The ceilings are low, and the corners of the houses are rounded.
Bomanoma uses natural and traditional building methods. For example, the walls are made of cob, a low-cost and fireproof material.
Cob is a mix of dirt from underneath the topsoil, straw, water, and lime. These materials help keep the buildings warm at night and cool during the day.
The roofs are made from makuti thatching, which is woven from sun-dried coconut palm leaves.
Bomanoma has many different sleeping options. One choice is the family home, perfect for a family or small group.
It has two bedrooms: one with a bed that is about 4 feet by 6 feet and another with a bed about 6 feet by 6 feet. It also has a small living room.
Bomanoma has three private cottages that are perfect for couples or even someone staying alone.
There’s also a hostel-style dormitory with three bunk beds, which is a good option if you’re on a budget. The bathrooms are in a separate building.
If you love nature, you can rent a tent or bring your own. It’s a great way to spend a night under the stars.
There’s a gazebo where you can relax, chat with other travelers, and charge your electronic devices.
All the rooms and the gazebo have solar-powered electricity. There’s also unlimited, high-speed Wi-Fi everywhere at Bomanoma.
At Bomanoma, there’s a viewing tower that also holds a water tank. This tower pumps water from a well below it.
Thanks to gravity, the water flows down to an irrigation system that waters the organic farm.
One guest bedroom in the tower is specially designed for privacy. The very top of the tower is a viewing spot where guests can see the beautiful African sunset.
Bomanoma has an organic farm that practices permaculture. This means it grows food in a way that helps the earth.
The farm has a garden with many plants like cassava, kale, lettuce, and parsley. There’s also a herb garden that grows spices used in the lodge’s kitchen.
To keep things sustainable at Bomanoma, food waste is turned into compost for the farm, and rainwater is collected to water the plants.
The property also has a tree nursery and four beehives. Guests can watch demonstrations and even help out on the farm if they like.
In the Bomanoma kitchen, there’s a brick and cob oven that’s great for baking bread and pizza. There’s also a grill for roasting meat and vegetables from the farm.
