Diana and her family live in a small house in Oakland, CA. They had an old garage in their backyard that was almost falling apart. They decided to use the space better.
They built a new structure that serves many purposes. They rent it out on Airbnb and also use it as a guest house when relatives or friends visit.

The best part is that the new building has already paid for itself in four years. Now, all the money they earn from it is pure profit. They plan to keep renting it out on Airbnb while their children are young.

Later, they will let their kids use it as a place to do homework and hang out. It’s amazing how one small space can have so many uses and help the family earn extra money.

Diana and her family bought a home with an old cinder-block garage on it. They turned it into a small house called a casita by building up instead of out. Their friend Ming, who is a great architect, helped design it.

Eric from E+J Builders did the construction beautifully. Diana, who loves decorating, made the inside look wonderful.

The casita is decorated with special finds, books, and items from local stores and artists on Etsy. Soon, they will start an online store to share products from their favorite local places like High Wire Coffee, the Berkeley Botanical Garden Gift Shop, and Fort Point Brewing Co.

They put these items in the casita for guests to enjoy.
You can see pictures on their Instagram page and book a stay through their Airbnb link. There’s also a video tour available by Tiny Home Tours.
