Last year, I met Megan and Molly in Arizona while they were traveling across the United States. Now, they’ve decided to settle in a small town in Canada. Molly wants to go to school there, and they plan to build a new home on wheels to live in.
I’m Megan, a 30-year-old single mother traveling with my 11-year-old daughter, Molly. We live in our 1985 GMC van, which I’ve named after David Bowie’s song “Space Oddity” because it’s all about exploring the unknown.
I’m a big fan of Bowie, and our van represents our adventure into new places.

It’s tough for many nomads to find steady jobs. Some live off their savings, while others move from place to place, finding work to make ends meet. One day, when I was picking her up from school, my daughter told me I should quit my job.

Around that time, I discovered a growing trend on Instagram: people were turning recreational vehicles, Mercedes Sprinter vans, and tiny homes into living spaces. I was really interested in this idea, and I thought to myself, “I could do that.”
