Sean had big ideas for a rugged van build, but his daughters had their own suggestions. Many people who design and build these vans say that the project evolves over time. As you change plans and rearrange the layout, the tiny home on wheels becomes a part of you.
When I got divorced, I wanted to turn a tough situation into something positive that we could all do together. It started as a small idea.

Then, that idea became the reason we decided to do this project together and create something special for the three of us. We eventually chose a Sprinter van, which was just a plain cargo van sitting on the lot at that time.

My dad didn’t really think we were going to get the van. He thought it was just a crazy idea. But I said, “Hey Dad, if we get this, let’s name it Blue Hawk.”

“He was surprised and asked where that name came from. I told him I didn’t know, and he just said, “Sure, we’re not going to get it, but you can name it whatever you want.”

In my mind, I was using a clever trick to get the exact van I wanted. I imagined designing it to be very dark, woodsy, like a cabin, and masculine. But early on, Paige started making videos.

She really wanted a yellow fridge. She even went on Instagram and said, “If you think I should have a yellow fridge, use hashtag #TeamYellowFridge.”
