The organic dome is one of four domes that are part of an eco-friendly hotel in the middle of the jungle.
The people who built this hotel wanted to offer a vacation spot that doesn’t harm the environment as much as the big resorts on Mexico’s coastline. They used natural and organic materials to build these domes.

The organic dome is 366 square feet. It was the first one built on this property and it took four months to finish. To make each dome, they used bags filled with 90% red sand, 3% water, 3% cement, and 4% calcium.

They stacked these bags in a spiral to form the dome shape and used barbed wire to keep them in place.

Loretta, who manages the property here at Viad Wendice, can show you around the dome and explain more about its special features.
