Stunning off grid shipping container tiny home on mountain

The cabin is made from three 20-foot shipping containers. The middle container is securely attached to a concrete block foundation with special locking devices. The two containers on the sides extend out a bit, supported by strong rods.

He designed the cabin to have a beautiful view of the mountains by putting lots of windows on one wall. He knows this design doesn’t keep heat in very well, but he loves the view.

He uses 800 Watts of solar panels to power lights, outlets, and a water pump in his cabin. There’s also a wood stove to keep the place warm. The fridge, hot water, and stove run on propane gas. The bathroom has a special composting toilet made by Sun-Mar.

For water, he has a well and collects rainwater. Both sources fill up big tanks used for showers and washing dishes. Right now, he doesn’t filter the rainwater, and the well water has iron in it, so he brings in drinking water.

Building with shipping containers often means you have to make sure they don’t leak where they join together. Adam put clamps to hold the containers, leaving a 3-inch space between them.

He put a special gutter on the roof to lead water away and another gutter below it just in case the first one leaks. So far, Adam hasn’t had any problems with water leaks. You can also stop leaks by putting a roof over the containers.

Adam insulated the cabin with spray foam that sticks to the steel walls. This helps prevent water from forming inside, which can happen with other types of insulation like fiberglass.

He built this cabin as a studio to show how you can use shipping containers to make unique homes. Adam doesn’t live there all the time.
