This three-bedroom Earthship home is in Ontario, Canada. It’s built from recycled tires and has a big 10 kW solar power system.
The house collects rainwater to flush the toilets. It also uses this water in the indoor gardens and has a wood-fired boiler to heat the floors.

The house has strong cement supports called buttresses every 15 to 20 feet. These help hold back the earth. Charging a thermal mass in the house is like charging a battery, it stores heat.

Many people like this house because they think it’s a cheaper way to build since it uses recycled materials. It might cost less, but it also requires a lot of work.
