Rocky Mountain Tiny Houses built a special home called Tandy for a young woman in the Air Force who might need to move frequently.

Tandy is a 24-foot house named after a character in a Sherwood Anderson novel.

It has many unique features and is made to be easy to move.

To save money and help the environment, Rocky Mountain used many recycled materials to construct Tandy.

The outside of the house is mostly made of old corrugated metal and barnwood, along with new windows and cedar trim.

The oak front door came from a local salvage yard.

Inside Tandy, the cabinets are a mix of different styles, and there are storage spaces made from barnwood and plywood.

These are used for shelves, stair steps, and decorations. Near the entrance, there’s a special area under a loft bed that makes a cozy spot for a dog.

The window frames and floorboards are painted in bright, contrasting colors to add to the artsy look of the home.

Old iron railings have been turned into brackets that support many shelves and spaces for a cat to play.

Using these recycled materials let the homeowner spend a bit more on nice things like a modern ceiling fan in the kitchen.

Tandy also has plenty of windows, which make the small space feel open and bright.

The kitchen in Tandy has some fancy touches like oak butcher block countertops and a big farmhouse sink.

It also has modern appliances, including a microwave above the stove, a convection oven, and a full-size refrigerator.

There’s a butcher block piece that covers the sink to give more room for preparing food when you’re not using the sink.

The main sleeping area is above the kitchen and you can get there by climbing a special staircase with built-in storage.

The bathroom features a unique, dimpled brass sink by Bates and Bates and a concrete countertop.

There’s also a bathtub and shower across from the sink and toilet.

The brightly painted window frames in the bathroom match the colorful style of the rest of the home.

The “doggy den” has a door with a barrel bolt lock that can be closed or removed if the space is needed for something else.

Rocky Mountain Tiny Houses installed a window at the dogs’ eye level so they can watch outside while their owner is away.

Above this area, you can reach the loft by climbing a ship’s ladder.

In the loft, there’s a pull-out sofa that makes the space perfect for hanging out or for guests to sleep.

There are also built-in storage cubbies that are great for keeping household items organized.

An outdoor shower is an added luxury in warmer months. Reclaimed barnwood creates a rustic backdrop, surrounded by reclaimed corrugated metal siding.

Even with these luxuries, Rocky Mountain Tiny Houses was able to create the custom home for less than $70,000.
