Big isn’t usually a word you use to describe a tiny home, but the Big Whimsy is different.
This 30-foot house is one of the biggest that Wind River Tiny Homes makes. It has two loft bedrooms, an office space, and a walk-in closet.
“Whimsical” fits this home too. It has fun, bright colors and playful details like a lily pad-shaped staircase and a kitchen countertop made of copper pennies.
The house cost $105,000 to build, which might sound expensive.
However, this large tiny home is completely self-sufficient with solar panels, propane heating, and a composting toilet.

The house has a fun look with yellow accents on the front door and back storage closet.
These bright spots stand out against the dark red siding and blue trim.
The roof has a full solar system that powers the house, making it work without needing to connect to the power grid.

Inside, the walls on the first floor have vertical bead board siding and are painted a light blue color called robin’s egg blue.
The upstairs has horizontal shiplap. The floors are made of bamboo, which looks rich and feels nice under your feet.
In the kitchen, there are open shelves where you can see grains and small kitchen machines.
There’s also a Cozy Cabin propane heater to keep the place warm. The kitchen has a small dishwasher, a propane cooktop, and a compact refrigerator.

At the homeowner’s request, Wind River made a unique countertop using over 30,000 pennies.
The kitchen also has a small sink and a bronze faucet that you can control with your foot.

In the spacious living area, IKEA shelves display decorations and plants. There’s a modern loveseat and a hammock, making it a cozy spot to relax.
A Bose sound system and a big flat-screen TV make up an impressive entertainment center.

Custom lily pad-shaped spiral stairs go up to the guest loft. Another set of stairs with built-in storage leads to the main loft.
These stairs also have cubbies for storage and a special vented area for a kitty litter box to keep the air fresh. Above, a Haiku fan cools the space.

The primary loft is 10 feet wide and has plenty of room for a queen-sized bed.
It has a bright yellow pine ceiling that stands out beautifully against the blue shiplap walls.
There’s built-in cubby shelving that’s great for storing shoes, jeans, and small items.
The room is well-lit with LED lights and a large window that brings in lots of natural light.

The guest loft has a bright yellow pine ceiling and LED lights for a cozy feel. It features built-in shelves with a special cat door.
This door leads to a catwalk that connects directly to the primary loft.

Nearby, there’s a built-in desk with more open shelving and good lighting, making it a comfortable place to work.
The whole house has large windows that let in lots of light and give great views.

The bathroom continues the blue shiplap siding from the rest of the house. It has built-in shelves and a Nature’s Head composting toilet.
The sink is white and sits above the counter, paired with a unique bronze faucet that looks like a dragon.

The shower is lined with stylish blue square glass tiles and has a bronze shower head and knob.
Overall, the house is a beautiful blend of the homeowner’s ideas and Wind River’s excellent work.
