When you see John Hewitt’s 1973 Silver Streak Continental Luxury Liner, it will feel like you’ve traveled back in time.
John chose to buy this classic trailer instead of a trendy one because he has experience. He once owned and restored a 1973 Airstream Argosy.
John believes that old travel trailers are made better than the new ones. “I knew I wanted another old trailer,” he said.
He found that Silver Streak trailers, though not as famous as Airstreams, are of higher quality.
He spent months looking at Silver Streaks, Avions, and Spartans before he chose this one.
The Silver Streak is parked on John’s property in northeast Georgia and it has many special features.
These include gold trim on the outside and inside, smoky glass mirrors, an original TV and phone setup, a four-speaker stereo system, and a bigger-than-usual bathroom.
Everything in the RV is original except for the flooring. John does not live in the RV.
He uses it as a “man cave” and a guest room when friends visit.
The Silver Streak has a shiny silver exterior with gold highlights, making it look sleek and elegant. It is 3 feet tall.
“The trailer is perfect for vintage-themed parties and photos,” John said.
Its mix of old-fashioned and modern styles makes it really stand out and a great place for casual get-togethers.
The lounge area has a big L-shaped couch that can fit more than three people and even a pet comfortably.
Soft throw pillows scattered on the couch make the space even cozier and more stylish.
The windows right above the couch open to the greenery outside. They let in natural light during the day, and the curtains all around ensure privacy at night.
A colorful patterned rug marks off this area from the rest of the living spaces.
Step back in time when you pretend to dial a friend’s number on this authentic white rotary dial telephone from the 1970s.
A gold sun-shaped mirror on the wall is both useful and decorative.
Nearby, there’s a small collection of items—a table lamp, a round desk clock, and a lit candle—set up casually.
This modern kitchen is made to make life easier in the small trailer. The microwave is great for quick meals or warming up leftovers.
There’s also a four-burner stove for cooking bigger meals when you have more time.
The tabletop blender creates healthy fruit smoothies. Cleaning up is a breeze because the sink is right next to the vintage appliances.
The drawers and overhead cabinets are all within easy reach.
The sleeping area comfortably fits two single beds. The padded headboards serve up clever expressions of both function and design.
The light fixtures on top of the headboards provide some lighting close at hand when needed at night or on a gloomy day.
The drawers under the beds provide smart, space-saving storage.
The bathroom, just a few steps from the sleeping area, is compact yet functional.
A simple white sink, as well as a white toilet that sits on a platform, occupies most of the room.
A fancy gooseneck lamp provides illumination as well as decoration in this washroom.
