How one couple lives on the go without sacrificing the comforts of home in their renovated skoolie

This renovated school bus has everything a couple needs.

“Who would’ve thought moving into a tiny home would give us all this space?” jokes Alisa.

She lives there full time with her partner, Paul, and their two golden retrievers. They moved into a renovated school bus, also called a Skoolie.

They love that they can park it anywhere and enjoy the outdoors. The bus is spacious and feels just like home.

They didn’t have to get rid of much stuff, thanks to smart use of space and clever furniture.

Plus, stylish decorations and lots of plants make the old school bus cozy and inviting.

Alisa’s collection of plants makes the bus feel like a real home. They have potted succulents all over their driving console.

The couple kept the bus’s original metal ceiling. This lets them use magnetic hooks to hang plants and other items throughout.

In the middle of the bus, there is a “hangout zone.” It has a big industrial-style daybed and a long custom-built sofa.

Both can be used as beds for guests. A wood stove keeps the area warm, and a flat-screen television at the end of the couches offers entertainment.

Right next to the entry, there’s a DIY table that Alisa and Paul use for both dining and studying.

They made it by using an original bus seat, a trimmed Ikea tabletop, some macrame rope Alisa crafted, and a few D-rings in the ceiling.

“We take our bus kitchen seriously,” Alisa says. Thanks to smart planning, they can cook just like in a big house.

The kitchen has a full-sized fridge with a freezer, a toaster, a slow cooker, an oven, and a stovetop.

There’s also simple wood siding that gives the space a rustic look above the minimal cabinets.

Custom-built closets line the hallway to the bedroom at the back of the bus.

There’s lots of storage space under the cozy double bed, which is on a custom-built platform.

There are many wall hooks next to the composting toilet for hanging towels and cleaning supplies.

Simple wood beams give the interior a stylish, rustic look.

Alisa believes that living in a tiny space doesn’t mean giving up hot showers.

The walk-in shower has sleek subway tiles and a curtain for privacy.
