Many people dream of living on the road, but only a few actually do it.
Dane Eyerly is one of those few. He and his wife, along with their six kids, are chasing this dream.
Dane turned a double-decker bus into their new home. Now, a video tour of their bus-home has gotten 15 million views!

The front of the bus serves as Dane’s home office and the driver’s area.
He works in software and can do his job from anywhere, which is great for their lifestyle on the road.
The bus features a fully-equipped kitchen that looks like a farmhouse. It has a big fridge, freezer, a two-burner stove, and an oven.
There’s even a full-size 30-inch kitchen sink.

Dane shared that they only have a two-burner stove because they often use an Instapot for cooking and also cook a lot outside the bus.
Right behind the kitchen, there’s a dining area big enough for the whole family. It has a folding table that comes out from behind the seats.
One thing that stands out about the bus is how bright it is.

“One of the things we really love about this space is really all the windows. The giant windows was one of the reasons why we bought the bus in the first place,” Dane shared with Tiny Home Tours.
In the video, Dane explained why they decided to leave their permanent home in Texas to spend more time on the road.

“The real reason we wanted to try something new, so drastically different from something we’ve done before, is we felt so tied down to chasing money for happiness. Thinking the more money we made, the better job title I had, the happier we would be. But ultimately, chasing that money meant more time spent away from the family,” Dane explained.
During a road trip from Utah to Texas, Dane and his wife realized they were truly happy having experiences like this.
They started looking into RVs and the RV lifestyle before they even got back home.
They decided that converting a double-decker bus was the best choice for them.

Dane continued showing the bus and pointed out their toilets and showers.
The bus has two separate toilets and one full-size shower with cedar walls, so everyone can use the bathroom when needed.

Upstairs, they have a washer and dryer that doesn’t need vents.
They also have a special vacuum called a Sweepovac that sucks up all the dirt and dust inside the bus, instead of sweeping it outside.
Each child has their own bunk bed to decorate and make special. They have a space at the back of the bus for all their homeschooling materials.
This area also has Dane and his wife’s king-size bed. During the day, it becomes a play area for the kids.

They bought the bus in August 2020. They sent it to the builders in September 2020 and got it back in December 2021.
“Our plan is to chase 70-degrees. We don’t like cold weather, we don’t like hot weather. 70 degrees is the ideal, wherever that takes us,” Dane said.
Their plan is to spend two weeks in each of the lower 48 states over the next two years. Every six months, they’ll check if this lifestyle still suits their family.
One of the coolest parts of the bus is the roof deck.
They used boat decking to make it less slippery and added a railing for safety. It’s their private outdoor space where the kids enjoy movie nights.

Dane and his family have taken a big step that many people only dream about. The Eyerly family is now among the 11 million households that own an RV.
“We’re doing this to inspire others to take this leap. I never set foot in an RV before doing this. I think the reward is well worth the risk we’ve taken,” Dane shared.
The Eyerly family is starting an amazing adventure, and we’re excited to see how their journey goes!
