The cabin is an old log house from the 1800s in Louisville, Kentucky. It has all the comforts of a modern home.
You can rent this cabin for a vacation, a retreat, or a business meeting. You might want to stay inside and enjoy the beautifully finished cabin.

Or, you could explore outside by walking through the woods, canoeing on the lake, wading in the creek, or spending an evening by the fireplace. Nearby, there’s a park with an 18-hole golf course, a championship disc golf course, and hiking trails.
This cabin was remodeled to look as it does today.
It is a 442 square-foot cabin and sits on 8 acres of land. This land also has a main house and a separate two-car garage.

The previous owner bought the cabin in Indiana and moved it to this property in the mid-1970s. Restoring the cabin took about three months.
It was a project the owners really cared about. They added a new roof, an HVAC system, a heat pump, and a new water line to the cabin.

They cleaned the poplar wood floors and ceiling and removed the old wallpaper. They also painted some walls to brighten the darker areas.
The Captain’s Cabin is made of square-cut logs. These logs form the outside and inside walls of the cabin.
Wide bands of chinking fill the gaps between the logs of the cabin, giving it a rustic look. The front porch has a new metal roof.

The roof’s slope was adjusted to its original angle, and the old posts were replaced with cedar ones from the property.
The owners also used this cedar to make a rail fence. The owners live in the main house but enjoy spending time at the cabin whenever it’s not rented out.

The cabin’s construction is traditional and durable. It is built from square-cut logs taken from old-growth trees.
A stone foundation keeps water away from the wood, protecting it. The logs fit together at the corners in a special way that keeps water from pooling, helping them to dry quickly and last a long time.

The cabin also features thick wooden doors with old iron hardware, including locks and keys.

The Captain’s Log Cabin might inspire you to think of ideas for your own vacation cabin.
Inside the two-story cabin, you’ll see beautiful antiques and reproductions.
Spend some time on the front porch, which has rocking chairs and views of the lake or the nearby land.

When you stay at a Bed and Breakfast, you get breakfast served to you on the porch or in the kitchen.
Some breakfast choices are bran muffins, wild mushroom frittata, and cranberry apple compote.
