Young kids often have great ideas and lots of creativity.
Sometimes, they even make those ideas come true.

Many of us had big dreams when we were young, but not many had the passion and drive of 11-year-old Lauren Nelson.
Lauren dreamed of building her own tiny home out of a camper.
She got the idea after looking at an American Girl doll magazine. She wanted to buy a small VW toy van she saw in the magazine for $650.
Her mom, Aimee Nelson, remembered when Lauren shared her plan. That’s when Aimee’s husband replied:
“That’s ridiculous, you could buy your own camper for that price.”

Funny enough, that’s just what the young girl decided to do.
She saved all her allowance and other small earnings and started looking for the perfect camper.
“Lauren really does have an envelope where she saves money. And it’s just a little bit here and there from things, like $5 at Easter or Tooth Fairy money. It just added up.”

No kidding! Lauren was determined to make her dream come true.
Luckily, her neighbor down the street was selling their 20-foot-long camper. They put up a “For Sale” sign in the front yard.
The camper was old and worn, but they offered it at a good price.

Lauren loved it the moment she saw it.
The determined 11-year-old knew she had to buy it. The price was more than she could afford, so she decided to negotiate for a better deal.
“He said $500 and I said $400 because that was the money I had in my bank account and he said sold,” Lauren said.
After getting the camper, it was time to start fixing it up.

This was a big challenge for a girl who had hardly done any manual work before. But Lauren wasn’t going to give up on creating her perfect tiny home.
Fixing up the camper wasn’t cheap.
Lauren had to save even more money to buy the things she needed to improve the home.
She finally managed to spend $400 on the furniture and accessories she wanted.

The home is decorated in simple black, white, and grey colors, giving it a clean look.
It has a cozy living area, a bedroom with four beds, a small bathroom, and a kitchen. There’s also plenty of storage space in cupboards in the main room, living room, and kitchen.

Lauren has definitely inspired many people to follow their dreams and not hold back.
The 11-year-old’s love for her new tiny home motivated her to work hard, and she has been greatly rewarded for it.
Her parents also deserve credit for giving her the space to be creative and make it all happen.
They thought it would be a safe project that would teach their daughter important life skills. They were right.

Lauren learned a lot while redoing the camper. She pushed herself and now has a wonderful space to call her own.
