Simple RV Bathroom Remodel Tips to Get You Started
When you’re remodeling an RV bathroom, the size of the space really matters. The amount of counter space you have can change what kinds of sinks, faucets, and accessories will work best.
In our RV, I really wanted a sink and faucet that didn’t look like typical RV pieces. I dreamed of a countertop sink and a more home-style faucet. But because our counter is so small, I had to stick with an RV bathroom sink instead.
Since I was already using an RV sink, I decided to have fun with the details. I found an RV faucet in a beautiful oil-rubbed bronze finish, and it made a big difference in how the space feels.
Why am I sharing this? Because every RV is different. Our camper is pretty small, but if you have a fifth wheel or a toy hauler, you might have more room to work with. That means you could even use regular house sinks, faucets, and other bathroom accessories. How cool is that?
So I wanted to share ideas for both small and larger RV bathrooms.
If you plan to use a regular house sink or faucet, just remember to watch the weight. Some sinks can be surprisingly heavy. My original plan was to remove the cabinet above our bathroom counter to balance out the extra weight from a heavier sink. But since I chose lightweight RV accessories instead, I was able to keep the medicine cabinet and simply give it a fresh coat of paint.
Simple and Affordable RV Bathroom Sink Ideas
As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to share two different options—starting with RV sinks. Sometimes, sticking with RV-specific pieces is the easiest and smartest choice.
In our RV, the sink and faucet had to go. Not only were they yellow and kind of gross, but they also felt very cheap. The good news? Replacing them was super affordable. For about $45, we were able to upgrade both the sink and the faucet.
So if you’re planning to splurge a little more on your kitchen sink and faucet, choosing an RV bathroom sink can be a great way to save money while still making the bathroom feel fresh and clean. It’s a small change, but it makes a big difference.
But of course, if you have a little extra space and some room to spare with weight in your RV remodel, installing a regular bathroom sink can be a wonderful option. What I love most about using a regular sink is how much it can change the look of such a tiny bathroom. It instantly makes the space feel more like home and adds that special touch that really pulls everything together.
No matter which option you choose, there’s one important thing to check—the connections. Our RV’s fittings were a little funky, so my husband had to make a few extra trips to the hardware store. Even so, we were thankfully able to find everything we needed there, without having to hunt down a special RV parts store. It took a bit of patience, but it all worked out in the end.
RV Bathroom Faucet Ideas to Love
I’m sharing the exact faucet we ended up choosing, along with a few other affordable and super cute options that are made just for RVs. That way, you can find something that fits your style, your space, and your budget—without the stress.
But of course, I also had to share a few really cool “regular” faucet options that aren’t too heavy. These little upgrades can take your RV bathroom remodel to a whole new level and make the space feel extra special.
RV Toilet Tips Worth Thinking About
I know toilets aren’t the cutest part of an RV bathroom remodel, but they’re definitely worth thinking about—especially if you’re working on a pre-owned RV.
If the toilet still looks okay, you might be able to get by with a very deep clean and good sanitizing. But honestly, for the price most RV toilets cost, I think replacing it is a smart and comforting upgrade when you can. It’s one of those changes that brings extra peace of mind and makes the whole space feel fresh again.
If you have a bigger camper, like a fifth wheel or a toy hauler, you might be able to upgrade to a porcelain toilet. We actually have a few friends who decided to splurge on this, even with the extra cost and weight—and they love it.
On the other hand, if you have a smaller camper, like a teardrop, pop-up, or van, you may need something more compact or even portable. That’s why I wanted to share some great portable toilet options too. There’s truly something for every setup.
No matter which toilet you choose, we have to talk about the big issue—the smell. Yep, the not-so-fun elephant in the room!
The very first time we took our RV out of its usual spot at my husband’s family ranch, we headed to the desert. It was 108 degrees, and we stayed there for a full week. Oh. My. Goodness. The smells were intense! With three boys flushing the toilet nonstop (or at least it felt that way), things got out of hand fast.
