In May 2020, the Perkins family made an exciting decision. They realized that life can be very unpredictable.
So, they decided to sell almost all their things—90% of them! They moved into their camper to start a new adventure on the road.
The Perkins family all agreed it was time to focus on what mattered most to them.
They wanted to spend more time together, travel, and have fun. Living in their camper seemed like the perfect way to do all these things.
They were ready to enjoy their lives without worrying about unimportant things.
The Perkins family has a big trailer that fits everyone comfortably—mom, dad, their two sons Jayce and Eli, daughter Madison, and their two corgis.
However, they noticed that the trailer’s decoration was old-fashioned. So, they decided to update it while living there.
Take a look at the pictures to see their progress.
The living area was okay but felt too dark with its wood paneling and wall colors, more like a basement than a home.
It was the first place the Perkins family chose to brighten up.
Removing the old couch made a big difference in the Perkins family’s trailer.
They replaced it with a new sofa that has lots of space to relax and adds a bright color that changes the look of the whole area.
They also added comfy pillows and a footrest, making it a cozy spot to sit.
They painted the walls white too, which makes the whole RV feel newer and brighter.
The photo from the other side of the room shows how dark and gloomy the trailer used to be.
Everything was in good shape, but the dark decor didn’t fit the bright and lively style of the family in their new traveling home.
Taking out the old dinette table and seats really improved the space. Now, there’s a smaller table with four legs that looks much better.
The new chairs are stylish, too. Along the window, there’s a bench made from a converted IKEA bookshelf, giving the kids plenty of room to sit during meals.
The area is made cozier with a macrame wall-hanging, bright pillows, a hanging plant, and a light-colored carpet, making it look open, fun, and comfortable.
In Mom and Dad Perkins’ bedroom, the space is small but works for them. However, the beige walls made the room look even tinier.
Adding some color could really help brighten it up.
The white paint also looks great in the bedroom. The colorful blanket they chose for the bed and the super soft pillows make the room feel like home.
A macrame wall hanging adds some personality to the space as well.
The Perkins family did not like the old backsplash in the kitchen because it looked outdated and made their home feel dark and gloomy.
Taking it down was easy.
Luckily, the Perkins family found out that backsplashes are easy to change. They chose a new one with a pattern they liked that sticks right on.
It’s a great upgrade for their kitchen and goes well with their other updates.
Mom Perkins spent an afternoon making a beautiful macrame wreath for the front door.
Small details like this help their RV feel less like just a camper and more like a real home.
Good luck to the Perkins family with their renovations, and congratulations on choosing a fun and adventurous life.
