“I swear we’re not crazy.”
That is how the first post starts on the Midwest Wanderers’ blog.
Luke and Rachel Davis are from Oswego, Illinois. They have been sweethearts since high school and fell in love with the Skoolie lifestyle.
This lifestyle lets them explore on the open roads and live simply, without needing many luxuries. The more they talked about how great it is to travel in a bus they fixed up themselves, the more they wanted to do it.
So, they took a chance and made their dream of traveling come true.
Luke and Rachel made an exciting choice that might seem strange to some people: they decided to live in a bus! But to us, it’s not weird at all.
In fact, we love following their adventure from afar.
The couple bought a bus in September 2015.
They wanted to fix it up so they could start traveling in it by the next summer.
Over time, they turned the bus into a great place to live.
It’s now a solar-powered home on wheels.
Do you think the outside of the bus looks interesting?
Luke and Rachel made the bus taller so they could be more creative, but it still has that classic school bus look we all love.
Inside, the bus is even nicer. It’s unusual, but in this bus, the kitchen is before the living room. This design works really well for the Midwest Wanderers’ bus.
There’s no mess inside! The shiny cabinets, pretty countertops, and smooth appliances are all arranged to use the space really well.
This makeover focuses on simple details.
It includes a small stove with two burners, perfect for coffee lovers.
It also has a stylish wood stove that gives it a classic, cozy feel.
It also has a special compartment that keeps it warm and cozy.
At the end of the day, the Davis family can choose to eat at a shiny wooden table that looks like it belongs in a cozy cottage.
Or, they can simply go upstairs and end their day.
The bedroom, with its cute tiny house-style sleeping loft, finishes our tour.
This unique loft shows that this bus isn’t afraid to be a little different.
Even though their four-month trip in Colorado has ended, the Midwest Wanderers are already planning their next adventure. With their beautifully converted bus ready to go, it’s clear why they love the nomadic lifestyle.
