Ariel has been living in a 24’x8′ tiny house for 6 years. She lives off-grid, which means she grows, forages, and preserves her own food. Ariel also cuts her own firewood, carries her own water, generates electricity with solar power, and cooks with propane.
She loves backpacking and wildlife photography. To support herself, she works part-time on a ranch in exchange for a place to park her tiny house. She also does other jobs to make money. Since she doesn’t pay rent and paid off her tiny house years ago, her expenses are very low.
What is Fy Nyth?
Fy Nyth is my off-grid tiny house on wheels. It’s 24 feet long and 7.5 feet wide. It’s road legal, so I could take it anywhere in the country if I wanted to.
Right now, I live in the western mountains of Wyoming and have no plans to move. I named the house Fy Nyth because I like Welsh and Old English languages and wanted something unique.
This is the story of my tiny house and my life in it. I hope my experiences can help others who want to live a similar lifestyle.
I’ve learned a lot from others who shared their stories, but I have some challenges—like cold mountain weather and living off-grid—that others haven’t written much about. I hope my story can help someone else who wants to try this lifestyle.
