Honeybee is a special campervan with a black and yellow design, just like a bee. Her owners, John and Cat, love bees so much that they decorated Honeybee to look like a queen bee.
Inside, you can find woodwork shaped like honeycombs, books about bees, and even wildflower seed bombs for planting. It’s a fun and amazing way to travel.
The Story of Honeybee: This campervan wasn’t always a cozy place to stay. It started as a regular van in 2011, used for city deliveries. But in May 2017, John and Cat decided to turn it into a dream travel home. They wanted it to be bright, big, and super comfy.
They chose materials that were good for the environment like sheep wool from Wales for keeping the van warm, and wood from Europe for the walls and storage areas.
John and Cat also reused old materials to help the planet. They took the van’s old sturdy floor and made it into a bed platform. The metal from the new windows helped make the cooking area, and wood pallets became part of the bed, window frames, and a table.
They named the van Honeybee right after they painted it bright yellow and kept adding bee-themed decorations like the honeycomb shapes on the doors and drawers.
We took a lot of time to find the perfect finishing touches for Honeybee, like the yellow hooks made from recycled steel and the speakers with bright yellow parts.
You can find awesome books about bees in one of the drawers, great for reading on a rainy day or before bed! We also have wildflower seed bombs for you to toss into grassy areas when you’re out exploring!
Honeybee has a big 300-watt solar panel made in the UK. This panel charges the batteries very fast, even on cloudy days! This means the lights, sound system, USB chargers, wall sockets, and the fridge with a freezer all run on solar power.
Cat, who is really good at upholstery, made the front seats extra comfy and stylish with yellow trim. These seats can turn around to make more room inside. Cat also made the curtains, the headboard, and big pockets on the back doors for storing stuff.
