Travis and Destoni once owned a home but felt trapped by their debt. They were working hard but felt like they were just staying in place. They decided to change their lives completely. They sold their home, used the money to pay off their debts, and then built out a bus for $19,000.
Now, they travel full-time. They stop and work in places they like for a season before moving on to the next spot. They have been doing this for almost a year and really enjoy it.

Destoni shared, “I had been at my job for 11 years and was extremely unhappy, to the point of feeling hopeless.”

Travis explained, “We were tired of being stuck and not having new experiences.”
Destoni added, “We had to change something, and using the equity from our house to pay off our debts and fund our travels seemed like our way out.”

Travis said, “We built this in front of our house. Everything in here is exactly what we wanted. We laid blue tape on the floor to plan out the space, and the only thing that changed was the hallway leading to the back bedroom.”
Destoni noted, “Everything had to be so customized, which helped because it gave us a guideline to shape everything we needed.”

Travis mentioned, “We were learning new things all the time. We worked on this every weekend. We had some experience with construction, so things like framing and using power tools came naturally to us. Once we finish the shower, the total cost will be about $18,000 to $19,000.”

Their bus, a 2000 International with a 444E engine and the 8545 transmission, was originally a 66-passenger bus. Now, it’s set up for three passengers.
