Pam Westra introduces her favorite tiny house, the Victorian Themed Tiny House, at Tiny Digs Hotel. She also shares what it’s like to own and run a Tiny Home Hotel.
Hi, I’m Pam Westra, and I own Tiny Digs Hotel in Portland, Oregon. We started planning Tiny Digs a few years ago, and it took a year to build the houses we initially wanted. We opened in fall 2016 with six houses.

Now, we have nine houses on site. We rent out these tiny houses as a hotel so people can experience what living in a tiny house is like. We designed each house differently. This way, if someone is thinking about living in a tiny house, they can see and feel different styles.

The cottage tiny house is the ninth house we built at Tiny Digs. We planned to spend extra time on this house because we wanted to add more details. It took us four months to build.

The cottage Victorian house we’re talking about today reminds me of my old home in Michigan, which was also a cottage Victorian. We raised our boys there and left it behind when we traveled in an RV for a few years.

This house has many of the same white features as our Michigan home, like the rosettes on the window corners, the custom-designed fireplace, and the stained glass.
This is my favorite house at Tiny Digs because it has so many special details and reminds me of the dream house I once had in Michigan.

All the houses at our hotel are either 16 feet or 18 feet long and are built on double axle trailers from Iron Eagle, which is located on the east side of Portland. Instead of spray paint, the trailers are powder coated and baked to ensure they last a long time and don’t rust.
Guests really love their experience here, and the feedback is fantastic. I enjoy it so much. People from all kinds of backgrounds visit Tiny Digs. Even if they don’t plan to live in a tiny house themselves, they get very excited to see the tiny houses and experience this lifestyle.

Many have seen TV shows about tiny houses or read about them, and they feel a strong connection to the concept when they leave, just like I do.
