Denise faced her cancer diagnosis bravely. Instead of giving up, she chose to use holistic medicine and built a school bus into a home so she could travel. I’m thrilled to have her on the channel and can’t wait to see her traveling one day.
I was diagnosed with leukemia in 2015 and chose to treat it with all-natural methods, avoiding chemotherapy and radiation. I also couldn’t afford both my mortgage and the high doses of Vitamin C IV treatments I needed.
One day, I saw what looked like a prison bus driving through my neighborhood, and it sparked an idea. What if I converted a bus into a home? I started researching on Google and YouTube and found inspiration from others living off-grid.

I spent $3,000 to start my project, but I sold my shed to buy my bus. I sold other things too, so I could afford what you see here. The most expensive items were the tires because they are like the foundation of a home.
I replaced all six tires. I also invested in a solar system, which cost almost $5,000. For everything else, I sold something to buy something, so I didn’t spend too much money. This really helped reduce my stress.

Leaving was hard because I was giving up 11 years of my life and everything I had worked for—it was the American dream. I had a BMW and everything, but I decided to let go of all my material things.
I converted the school bus by myself, which took about a year and a half with a little help from others. I decided to just go and live my life to the fullest. They gave me six months to live, but it’s been almost four years now, and so far, so good.
