This little house is 8.5 feet wide, 13 feet tall, and 20 feet long. It uses solar panels and a 12-volt battery for power, and propane for cooking and heating water. There’s also a small wood stove for warmth.
Kate and Simon built this 250-square-foot house to live off the grid. They designed it in a Scandinavian style and now build similar houses as a family business.

They insulated their home with soy-based foam and used a natural oil to finish the wood inside. They made smart furniture that saves space, making the house work well for them and their young son.

The house has sliding doors that open to a big deck, blending the inside and outside areas together.

The kitchen is large with plenty of storage and counter space. It feels open because there are no cabinets hanging over the counters. The loft is big enough for a queen-sized bed and includes built-in storage, night tables, and a window to keep it airy. The bathroom has a 30×30 inch shower, a dry toilet, and a tank for used water.
